Police with the York Regional Police Auto Cargo Theft Unit have shut down an illegal store where alcohol was being sold in the City of Markham.
According to reports, an investigation began on November 13, 2019 where it was believed that alcohol was being sold. As the investigation continued police realized there were regular customers visiting the commercial unit and purchasing liquor and beer.
After obtaining the necessary warrants, investigators executed the search warrant at the commercial unit on January 30, 2020. Two men who were at the business during the raid were placed under arrest without incident. Responding officers found more than $100,000 worth of alcohol in a store front as well as alcohol being stored in moving trucks.
During the search police also found cannabis and CBD oil products that were pre-packaged for sale including pre-packaged CBD oil, packaging materials, cannabis edibles, dried cannabis, and pre-packaged CBD vaping cartridges.
The men charged are Anil Anand, 56, City of Brampton, Ramandeep Singh, 28, City of Toronto and Bill Tsetsekas, 56, City of Markham.
